On Friday, October 24, 2025 (10:00–12:00), the Center for Ancient Greek and Chinese Culture (KELKIP) organized a Hybrid Book Forum dedicated to the volume In the Mind, in the Body, in the World: Emotions in Early China and Ancient Greece (Oxford University Press, 2024), edited by Douglas Cairns and Curie Virág.
With an in-person audience in a KEME room at the University of Crete (Rethymno), Douglas Cairns took part in an open hybrid discussion with Curie Virág (University of Warwick), Dimos Spatharas (University of Crete, contributor to the volume), and Marta Jimenez (Complutense University of Madrid). The discussion was moderated by Chloe Balla from the Department of Philosophy at the University of Crete.
This dialogue on a comparative approach to emotions complemented discussions that took place within the international conference Socratica VI (Rethymno, October 19–23, 2025), which included a thematic session devoted to the study of emotions and the Socratic studies.
